Every thing can rise to a new existence. All you need is a little imagination. Of course, and like-minded people.
The history of Žalvaris Park began in 2005, when the founder of the park, Algirdas Nomeika, decided to implement his almost 30-year-old idea to establish an amusement park. Algirdas himself was one of the main organizers of public events held in the capital. During his life, he implemented an innumerable number of events, festivals and celebrations and has as many as 40 records to his credit. Algirdas organized such events as: Song Festivals, World Lithuanian Games, hot air balloon championships, fireworks festivals and many other events and celebrations. Having purchased a homestead of almost 40 hectares in the village of Skrebuliai near Molėtai, Algirdas gradually began to nurture the homestead and brought it to a second life. The idea of the park is a different use of waste, giving it a different meaning. In creating exhibits, old stage constructions and other materials that once had a completely different purpose are often used. The aim is to draw attention to the conservation of nature and various resources and to encourage society to reduce consumerism. The aim is also to show visitors how unnecessary items can be transformed into unusual and interesting creations not only for entertainment, but also for interesting lessons.
Many exhibits and objects found in the park are related to events that Algirdas once organized, and after them simply became unnecessary and are now resurrected for a second life in the park's territory. Sculptures of prancing horses, which often remind visitors of ghosts, were once beautiful decorations for the theater stage. Several other exhibits in the park have even entered the Lithuanian Book of Records, such as the longest scooter and paddle or the largest pipe. Each piece was created using ingenuity, social issues, a sense of humor and has its own meaning and philosophy. The owner of the park infected many of his friends with his enthusiasm for creation, who later became his colleagues in the park and helped Algirdas nurture the idea of the park.
Visitors often get the idea that the exhibits in the park are made of brass, but brass has absolutely nothing to do with the park and the exhibits in it. There are no brass items or sculptures here, and the park's name simply comes from the nearby town of Žalvariai. A. Nomeika has mentioned that he has thoughts and ideas for 700 years ahead, but has implemented only 1 percent. "Although they say that only fools are absolutely happy, I think I can call myself a happy person. Finally, I do what gives me great satisfaction. Moreover, others like it too. What more do you need?" The goal of the park's founder was to show that all ideas can be realized and that every idea can become a reality. Algirdas' dream was not to get rich, but for people to come, enjoy themselves and see something different and unique. A. Nomeika also aimed to encourage students and young people to be interested in nature, ecology, sustainability, and housekeeping, and to pay more attention to nature rather than computers, since many of us spend a lot of time on computers and mobile phones these days.
After the founder's death, the park was taken over and is being nurtured by Algirdas' children. A. Nomeika's children continue to try to continue their father's activities - they updated the park's exhibits as much as possible, created new ones, and implemented their own ideas: a wooden bauble, a virus made of welded metal, unique water slides, and a tree of light appeared in the park. Everything here is close to them, because they themselves contributed to the old exhibits - their father organized a kind of competition for them to see who would come up with the best idea. Currently, the park's activities are being nurtured by the founder's middle child, also named Algirdas. Now, more than ever, the goal is to create a responsible and sustainable park that both children and adults can enjoy. Efforts are being made to ensure that people who come to Žalvaris Park spend their time as memorable as possible. The abundance of entertainment and games in the park will allow both families and groups of friends to have a great time. The park continues to organize excursions for class or company trips, and provides a place to celebrate birthdays or other holidays. If you haven't visited Žalvaris Park yet, it's time to do so! Don't forget to bring your family members or a group of friends with you, and most importantly - a good mood.
Respect - We always aim to be courteous, respectful and considerate to all park visitors. We expect the same from our visitors.
Sustainability - when creating the park, we undertake to do it responsibly, taking into account the environment around us and its needs.
Teamwork - we know that the best work is not done by individuals, but by a team. The ability to trust each other, no matter what the circumstances, supporting each other on a daily basis, these are the values we teach our visitors as well.
The mission of our park is to create such an atmosphere that motivates and educates visitors to spend less time on computers and mobile phones and spend more time in nature. We want it to be a park to which you would like to return again and again. We wish for our visitors to aim for sustainability, to start sorting.
Our vision, as a park, is to become a world-famous and sought-after park, where neither entertainment nor educational activities are missing.
